# 3 premium mobile games worth buying on Android and iOS

Choose Servant of the Lake for touch puzzles, Prince of Persia for demanding action, or Reigns: Beyond for short stories. Compare costs and mobile tradeoffs.

**The three premium mobile games we recommend from the current Games Ranker catalogue are Servant of the Lake, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, and Reigns: Beyond.** Each offers a complete core experience without gacha or forced ads, but they suit very different players.

This is not a list built from store popularity. We selected games that are currently available on both Android and iOS, scored well under the [Games Ranker methodology](/how-we-rank/), use transparent payment models, and make sensible use of a phone’s controls. US App Store reference prices below were rechecked on 2026-09-05; Android prices, offers, and your local storefront can differ. That gap is not hypothetical: when we [priced nine of our reviewed games on both stores](/blog/same-mobile-game-costs-more-on-iphone/), six matched exactly and two cost more on iPhone. This is a research-based comparison, not a Games Ranker play-test.

## The recommendations at a glance

| Game | Best for | US iOS payment model | Offline status | Controller |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Servant of the Lake | Touchscreen puzzles and eerie mysteries | [$4.99 paid download](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/servant-of-the-lake/id6748751735); separate Lite app | Recheck before travel | Not advertised |
| Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown | Long action adventures and exploration | [Free trial; $9.99 featured unlock](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/prince-of-persia-lost-crown/id6504011865) | [Publisher-confirmed](https://www.ubisoft.com/en-au/game/prince-of-persia/the-lost-crown/news-updates/6jZ5ewg9gbmRzKEvAVBbUX/prince-of-persia-the-lost-crown-now-available-on-mobile) | Confirmed |
| Reigns: Beyond | Short narrative sessions and resource decisions | [$4.99 paid download](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/reigns-beyond/id6762286865?platform=ipad) | Not explicitly confirmed on mobile | Confirmed on iOS; Android unverified |

None is a universal purchase. The right choice depends on whether you want a compact puzzle story, a demanding console-scale adventure, or a replayable decision game.

## 1\. Servant of the Lake: the strongest pure-touch recommendation

[Servant of the Lake](/games/servant-of-the-lake/) is the easiest recommendation for players who want a game that feels designed around a phone rather than reduced to fit one. It is a single-player point-and-click mystery in which direct taps, item use, observation, and mechanical puzzles are the main interactions.

The [US App Store listing](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/servant-of-the-lake/id6748751735) shows a $4.99 paid download. Rusty Lake links a separate Lite edition from the [official game site](https://www.servantofthelake.com/), so you can sample the opening before buying. Check your local store for its current price; we have not independently tested an offline restart on Android or iOS.

### Why it is worth buying

* Touch input is the natural control method rather than a compromise.
* The one-time purchase includes the complete main story and post-game material.
* Its puzzle scenes favor observation over fast reactions.
* The built-in notebook keeps important clues close to the puzzles.
* A separate Lite version reduces the risk of buying the wrong type of game.

### Reasons to skip it

[Stephen Gregson-Wood at Pocket Gamer](https://www.pocketgamer.com/servant-of-the-lake/review/) found some puzzle solutions frustratingly obscure and noted the lack of a hint system. He also praised the uncluttered touch interface. That combination suits patient puzzle solvers more than players who want constant guidance; the macabre imagery is another reason to skip it if you want a cheerful game. We do not have a Games Ranker completion-time measurement.

**Choose it if:** you value atmosphere, observation, tactile puzzles, and a complete short experience more than raw playtime.

## 2\. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown: the most substantial game

[Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown](/games/prince-of-persia-the-lost-crown/) is the choice for players who want a long action game rather than a traditional mobile-sized experience. [Ubisoft’s mobile launch page](https://www.ubisoft.com/en-au/game/prince-of-persia/the-lost-crown/news-updates/6jZ5ewg9gbmRzKEvAVBbUX/prince-of-persia-the-lost-crown-now-available-on-mobile) says the Android and iOS edition contains the original adventure, adapted with remappable touch controls, controller support, platforming assists, combat assists, and offline play.

![Sargon fighting Orod during a boss battle in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown](/blog/premium-mobile-games-worth-buying/prince-of-persia-the-lost-crown.webp)

The opening can be played free, and progress carries into the full version. The [US App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/prince-of-persia-lost-crown/id6504011865) features a $9.99 full-game unlock, but its purchase list also contains a $14.99 full-game entry and optional packs. Confirm the actual offer inside the app before paying; so this is not as clean as a download with no in-app purchase section; the important distinction is that the main campaign is sold through a clear one-time unlock rather than gacha or energy timers.

### Why it is worth buying

* It offers the deepest combat, exploration, and movement systems of these three games.
* The free trial lets you test performance and controls on your own phone.
* Compatible controllers are supported on mobile.
* Touch buttons can be repositioned and resized.
* Optional assists can reduce the friction of precise platforming on a small screen.

### Reasons to skip it

It needs much more storage and stronger hardware than the other recommendations. The [App Store compatibility section](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/prince-of-persia-lost-crown/id6504011865) specifies an A12 Bionic-or-newer device; check the listing on your own phone before downloading. In [John Voorhees’s MacStories review](https://www.macstories.net/reviews/prince-of-persia-the-lost-crown-arrives-on-iphone-and-ipad/), combat felt cramped on an iPhone 16 Pro Max, while his M4 iPad Pro became warm and occasionally hitched during area transitions. Those are his test results, not a claim about every supported device.

Read [why the store download is not the final installed size](/blog/why-mobile-games-need-more-storage-than-download-size/) before installing it on a nearly full phone.

**Choose it if:** you want the longest, most mechanically demanding game here and can use a controller or a comfortably sized screen.

## 3\. Reigns: Beyond: the best fit for short sessions

[Reigns: Beyond](/games/reigns-beyond/) turns a spacefaring band’s tour into a stream of left-or-right decisions. You balance ship and crew needs, recruit characters, perform guitar mini-games, and fight swipe-driven dogfights. The [developer’s App Store description](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/reigns-beyond/id6762286865?platform=ipad) lists more than 1,400 decision cards and over 60 characters.

![Reigns Beyond decision card featuring Brein the Barbrain inside an ornate estate](/blog/premium-mobile-games-worth-buying/reigns-beyond.webp)

[Official Reigns: Beyond press screenshot © Nerial Ltd / Devolver Digital · Image source ↗](https://www.cosmocover.com/es/newsroom/sube-el-volumen-con-la-nueva-y-cosmica-actualizacion-de-reigns-beyond/)

The [standalone US App Store listing](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/reigns-beyond/id6762286865?platform=ipad) shows $4.99 and a controller-support badge. [Sean Martin’s Pocket Tactics review](https://www.pockettactics.com/reigns-beyond/review) supports the appeal of its simple swipe decisions, but covers the original Apple Arcade edition, not a performance test of the current standalone build.

### Why it is worth buying

* The swipe interface works naturally on a phone.
* The branching script supports repeat play without ongoing purchases.
* Short encounters are easy to fit between other tasks.
* Dogfights and guitar performances break up the decision cards.
* The writing has a distinct dry science-fiction tone.

### Reasons to skip it

Failure and repeated cards are central to progression, and choice consequences can be intentionally unclear. The mobile listings did not explicitly confirm offline support. An August 20 [App Store review by LaLaZ](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/reigns-beyond/id6762286865?platform=ipad) reports freezing and overheating on an iPhone 16. This is an individual user report, not independently reproduced evidence or a failure-rate estimate. Read recent reports for your device before paying.

If you already own it, our spoiler-light [Reigns: Beyond beginner guide](/blog/reigns-beyond-beginner-tips/) explains how to protect resources and make early runs more deliberate.

**Choose it if:** you prefer replayable stories, resource balancing, and ten-minute sessions over precise action or fixed puzzle solutions.

## Which premium mobile game should you buy?

If physical controls will decide your purchase, [check controller support for the exact mobile edition](/blog/check-mobile-game-controller-support/) first. The checklist separates phone compatibility from the actions that work inside a game.

Use the decision that matches how you actually play:

* **Buy Servant of the Lake** for the strongest touch-first design, offline travel, and a compact mystery.
* **Try Prince of Persia first** when you want a substantial action game and need to test controls, storage, and performance before paying.
* **Buy Reigns: Beyond** for short narrative runs and replayability, provided you accept uncertain consequences and verify current device stability.

If none matches, do not buy simply because a game is premium. Upfront pricing removes many monetization problems, but it does not guarantee the genre, controls, length, performance, or difficulty will suit you. Compare the full [ranked mobile game catalogue](/games/) and use each game’s “best for” and “skip if” sections before deciding.

## What this list excludes

Pokémon Champions is in the catalogue but not in this premium recommendation. It is free-to-start and offers optional memberships and a paid battle pass, so it answers a different buying question. [A Space for the Unbound](/games/a-space-for-the-unbound/) has an excellent story and a fair one-time unlock, but its virtual D-pad and checkpoint-only saves are a weaker fit for this list’s touch-first criteria. Individual ratings also remain on game pages rather than being recalculated for a blog roundup.

[Sea of Stars](/games/sea-of-stars/) is another strong one-time-purchase option for players who want a much longer turn-based RPG. Choose it over these three if turn-based combat is your priority. It is outside this shortlist’s puzzle, action, and short-story roles, rather than a lower-quality option. Check [Playdigious’s compatibility warnings](https://playdigious.helpshift.com/hc/en/37-sea-of-stars/faq/662-is-my-device-compatible/) first: some supported older Apple devices can experience crashes or freezes. Its separate review covers touch timing, save limits, and missing DLC. Players who already own it can use our [Sea of Stars mobile combat guide](/blog/sea-of-stars-mobile-combat-guide/) to learn timed hits, enemy locks, and Live Mana on a touchscreen.

The recommendations will need review when prices, compatibility, monetization, or store availability change. The Games Ranker score is editorial and independent; it is not affected by affiliate availability, and no links in this article are affiliate links.
